Bilateral Breast Reconstruction with Implant Placement
This is a 53-year-old female who was diagnosed with breast cancer of her right breast. She had previous history of a lumpectomy and radiation to her right breast related to a diagnosis of DCIS in 2007. During routine mammography, a new breast cancer was identified. Due to the nature of her cancer and her previous history, she opted for a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. Bilateral tissue expanders and acellular dermal matrices were placed at the time of her mastectomy. Following her tissue expansion, she underwent a second-stage breast reconstruction surgery. During this surgery, the tissue expanders were replaced with silicone breast implants and a right latissimus flap was done due to her previous history of radiation.
She is healing extremely well and is very pleased with her results.
