| Faster CT Equals Clearer Images |
|
December 6th 2010 - The heart is a moving, beating organ. Arteries can appear blurry on standard CT images. The earliest signs of disease are often very tiny changes in vessel walls and linings. Riverview’s new 128 slice CT is helping to detect these and other issues, ensuring the most accurate diagnosis.
The ultra-fast 128 slice CT scanner is timed to the patient’s heartbeat. This means that physicians can see images of the heart and vessels without blurring and in real time. It is so powerful it can capture an image of the entire heart in just two beats, while reducing the radiation doses by up to one third. From these images, 3- dimensional views of the heart and coronary arteries help physicians see not only the narrowing blood vessels, but even earlier development of heart disease. This view offers a non-invasive way to see coronary arteries that may otherwise have required a cardiac catheterization. The scanner delivers key clinical insights for a wide range of applications in the radiology such as routine head and body imaging or more specialized like bariatric, pediatric, and trauma. Overall patient experience is improved through shorter scan times and a larger internal opening for our larger patients’ comfort. The crisp, clear images and quick scan times ensure vital information makes it to medical teams faster—for more timely diagnosis, planning, and treatment. Riverview is excited to offer this great benefit to you, the patient. |
