Jeffrey R. Ginther, MD
Dr. Ginther is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in adult reconstructive surgery (joint replacement) and sports medicine. His orthopaedic practice focuses on total joint replacement and reconstructive surgery, but also includes arthroscopic reconstruction of the knee and shoulder, sports medicine and trauma.
A native of Indiana, Dr. Ginther retired from the U.S. Army in June, 1999 as a colonel and returned to his hometown to begin practice. Dr. Ginther’s final assignment in the military was the Chief, Orthopaedic Surgery for Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He was in charge of an orthopaedic residency program, chief of adult reconstructive surgery, a podiatry residency program, physical and occupational therapy departments, and supervised Department of Defense orthopaedic care for the southeast region of the United States.
Dr. Ginther graduated from Warren Central High School in 1970, The United States Military Academy at West Point in 1974, and served in the infantry for 5 years. He then attended the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences for medical school and did his residency training at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. In 1997, Dr. Ginther completed fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Surgery and Sports Medicine.
Credentials for Dr. Ginther include the following: He is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons and is an Associate Professor of Surgery for the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Dr. Ginther is also a member of the Indiana State Medical Association, the Indiana Orthopaedic Society, the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, and the Officers Christian Fellowship.
Dr. Ginther married Libby Gelpke in 1980 and they have 4 children. He is active at Radiant Christian Life Church in Westfield, Indiana. As a former player for Warren Central High School, Dr. Ginther is an avid basketball fan and enjoys tennis and running.
