Compassion and Advanced Technology

Riverview provides a state-of-the-art intensive care unit (ICU), offering comprehensive care to critically ill patients. Patients in the ICU may require invasive monitoring, ventilators or other specialized equipment and intensive care.

State-of-the-Art Technology

Our 10-bed ICU incorporates all of the latest technological advancements required for the special monitoring and medical needs of our patients. Staffed by registered nurses (RNs), we provide individualized care for each patient, recognizing their unique medical needs. Our Cardiac Intervention Unit within the ICU specializes in caring for those who have undergone a cardiac procedure at Riverview's Heart and Vascular Center.

Highly Qualified, Compassionate Care

Our nursing staff works with the physician specialists at Riverview. Depending upon a patient's medical needs, we have many medical experts who might possibly be called in for a particular patient. Our experts include board-certified specialists in pulmonology, neurology, nephrology, infections diseases, and other specialists as needed. In addition, the ICU is supported by many hospital-based services such as respiratory therapy, physical therapy, nutrition, and dietetics.

Communication

We use a "spokesperson model" to maintain timely and efficient communication with our patient's family members.  One family member is encouraged to be the main contact for communication with Riverview staff and to then take responsibility for information the rest of the family.

For Your Covnenience

Our ICU waiting room is available for family members.  For your convenience, 24 hour vending is available in the atrium.  Chaplains are available around the clock for spiritual care of patients and their families.  Staff will be pleased to assist you if you would like to speak with clergy.
