Orthopedic Clinical Specialist at Riverview Hospital

December 6th 2010 - Riverview Rehab & Fitness – Carmel welcomes Bidur Mukherjee, physical therapist. Mukherjee is board certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). To obtain board certification, candidates must demonstrate specialized knowledge and advanced clinical proficiency in a specialty area and complete a rigorous written examination.

An orthopedic specialist has advanced clinical skills in manual therapy techniques to improve postural alignment and joint integrity, as well as enhancing neuromuscular re-education to build strength. Mukherjee is also a certified kinesio taping practitioner. This method of taping enhances the body’s natural healing process and provides support to the muscles. This type of taping is used to enhance athletic performance and treat patients with instability issues.

Having an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist complements Riverview’s world-class orthopedic care. Physical therapists work in conjunction with our orthopedic physicians to assess biomechanical alignment, joint mobility, muscle imbalances, and postural alignment. We utilize evidenced based interventions and work closely with the physicians to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
