Oncology Rehab & Fitness Program
January 19th 2011 - The Oncology Rehab & Fitness program was developed in collaboration with the Riverview Cancer Center and was designed to enhance the quality of life of patients who are suffering from the debilitating side effects of surgery, chemotherapy or radiation.  Cancer treatments can leave one’s body with less energy, muscle tone and a variety of complications.

The Oncology Rehab & Fitness staff consists of licensed physical, occupational, speech therapists and exercise specialists that have expertise in evaluating and treating patients with an individualized and practical course of rehabilitation and fitness strategies.  Therapy focuses on relieving many of the side effects oncology patients typically face, such as pain, fatigue, lymphedema, balance problems, bowel dysfunction and much more.

Individuals interested in the Oncology Rehab program should ask their oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgeon or primary care physician for a rehabilitation referral.   Rehabilitation treatment for cancer and secondary conditions is covered by most insurance plans.

Individuals that do not need therapy, but want to add exercise to their cancer treatment can contact the Rehab and Fitness Center directly to make an appointment with an exercise specialist. The client and exercise specialist will work together to create a program according to the client’s goals. An exercise program has been shown to enhance the well-being and promote healing in those undergoing cancer treatments.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact either of the Riverview Rehab & Fitness Centers, Noblesville at 776-7225 or Carmel at 705-4350.
